Apply to Old Scona

Applications for the 2026-2027 school year will open on January 9, 2026. The application deadline is 4:00 PM on January 30, 2026. All links will be available on January 9, 2026.

How to Apply:

Admission to Old Scona Academic (OSA) School is by application only. To apply, students must:

  1. Complete the electronic application form by January 30, 2026 (4:00 PM). 
    1. Submission of the form (available on January 9th) will trigger the release of the School Recommendation form to the student's designated administrator. 
    2. Parents do not need to contact their junior high schools for recommendations.
    3. We will only accept the official school recommendation form through the electronic application process and do not accept paper recommendations.
  2. School Recommendation Form
    1. The school administrator submits the completed electronic School Recommendation form and the student's most recent progress/interim reports for Grade 9 core subjects (English 9, Math 9, Science 9, and Social Studies 9) by 4:00 PM on January 30, 2026. 
    2. For Grade 10 applicants, applying for Grade 11 at OSA in the 2026-27 school year, current Grade 10 marks will also be required.
  3. Division Registration Form: If not currently enrolled in Edmonton Public Schools, submit the Division Registration Form found on this site by 11:59 PM on February 6, 2026.
    1. The link for this form will be available once the Division pre-enrolment process opens.
  4. Entrance Exam: Take the entrance exam on Saturday, February 21, 2026.
    1. In order to write the entrance exam, you must have completed the application process by the January 30th deadline and be registered for the exam. No exceptions will be made.

Important:

As long as the application form and School Recommendation form are received by January 30, 2026, all applicants will be sent a final form by February 4, 2026 to sign up for the entrance exam taking place on February 21, 2026.

Virtual Open House – Thursday, January 15, 2026

We invite all students, families, and community members to join us for our Virtual Open House on Thursday, January 15, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. This informal event is designed to give you the opportunity to meet with our staff, ask questions, and learn more about different programs and areas at our school. 

Instead of a formal presentation, we are offering several virtual breakout rooms where staff members will be available to talk informally and answer questions. You can visit any of these rooms based on your interests. There is no need to stay for the entire event—feel free to join and leave any room at any time!

Parent Information Sessions:

We offer the following Parent Information Sessions to help you learn more about the application process and life at Old Scona Academic School:

  • In-person Sessions: Saturday, January 17, 2026 (three available sessions).
  • Virtual Session: Saturday, January 24, 2026.

The registration form for the in-person sessions will be available in early January.
