Each year Old Scona has approximately 120 positions available to grade 10 students. The application process is listed below. Application begins after our open house in February.

What are the basic set criteria for selecting students entering Grade 10?
The school admin team chooses students according to the following criteria. The criteria include:
- a minimum overall average of 80% in Grade 9 English Language Arts, Social Studies, Mathematics, Science and French. Students with no previous experience in French are expected to enroll in French 10 at summer school as a minimum requirement.
- a writing of a general cognitive abilities test (Standardized Admission Exam), and
- a character assessment submitted by a Grade 9 principal or counsellor.
First Writing of the Standardized Admission Exam
Date: Saturday, February 27, 2010 (9:00 am & 1:00 pm)
OR
Second Writing for the Standardized Admission Exam
Date: Saturday, March 6, 2010 (9:00 am & 1:00 pm)
Calculators are not required for the mathematical section.
The examination will be machine scored so please bring an HB pencil and a good eraser.
Stuudents are also required to bring photo I.D. to the examination.
