Old Scona Alumni Association Our newsletters are available in PDF format. We have tried to keep costs down by emailing it to those for whom we had contact information. If you would like to receive future newsletters as hardcopy, or wish to supply us with an email address, please let us know.
The Old Scona School Alumni Association is up and running! On September 26, 2009, a group of alumni met and established an interim committee of 16 alumni members to begin the legal process in setting up a charitable society. Several organizational meetings have been held and an interim executive committee has been formed:

society, focused on supporting students and building a community
of alumni. Our ideas include:
In order to help fund our work, we offer an annual membership of $10 to Old Scona alumni and staff. This money is used to meet our modest operating costs (mostly printing and mailing letters). As a member, we will keep you informed via newsletters and offer discounts to all events that we host. You will also receive a membership card to adorn your purse or wallet. Mail or drop off your $10.00 alumni fee to the school at:
We need to know your: First Name, Last Name, Email, Address, Phone, Graduation Year, and if applicable, your Maiden Name and Spouse?s Name. Additionally, let us know your preferred contact: Email, Post or Telephone. We prefer email as it is easier and it keeps costs down.
If you are interested in donating money, goods or services to us (or any event we are planning), please let us know. We can offer a tax receipt and/or advertising for your donations.
Photographs, alumni contacts and memories from the event are located there. The school has also prepared a 100 page history of Old Scona, the Centennial Magazine is a top notch history of our school and available to all alumni at a cost of $10.00 per magazine. If you are interested in purchasing a copy please contact Darlene Romao at the school by phone at 780-433-0627 or by e-mail at Darlene.romao@epsb.ca. If you wish to have an magazine mailed to you there is an additional cost for shipping: within Canada for $3.00, and to the United States for $7.00.
The best way to get people involved is to do something fun! With this in mind, we've joined forces with the Old Scona Performing Arts classes to present a live production of Grand Hotel: The Musical. After the play, please join us for "Afternoon Tea at the Grand Hotel"- a mixer with fine desserts and excellent company! The performance will take place at:
Old Scona School Auditorium Tickets are priced to encourage you to become an alumni member. Proceeds will be used to meet our costs of this and future events, as well as funding scholarship and mentorship programs. Please R.S.V.P in advance as seating is limited and first come, first serve. Tickets can be purchased by cheque (made payable to Old Scona School) at the school office, or at the door.
Did you graduate in 1982? Do you have a copy of the class graduation photo? Please contact the school at 780-433-0627 as we would like to make a copy of the class photos so that we can put it on display with all of the other graduation photos.
We would like to hear from you. Where do you live? What do you do? Do you have any interesting anecdotes from when you were a student? Is there an old classmate that you would like to find?
With your support, we can help Canada?s best and brightest students do even better. We can also have a lot of fun in the process! Please become a member of this energetic and vibrant community - we need your talents and ideas!
You can also help us by finding former friends and classmates that went to Old Scona (from 1977 to present) or Strathcona (prior to 1959). If you know of other students of Old Scona, please forward this letter to them. They can drop us a note, and we can update our records. Hopefully this "viral" approach will help us to locate every alumnus!
